Frequently Asked Questions
Will you follow me back, please?
We wish we could, but this Tumblr is not a primary Tumblr account; Tumblr only allows primary Tumblr accounts to follow other users. Hopefully, if Tumblr ever changes that, we can add all of you back!
Why do you show a lot of the same design all the time? It’s always that leaf pattern, trees, or hearts and it really just isn’t creative in my mind anymore because it’s so repetitive.
While the design may be the same, each pour is different, performed at different times by different people. It’s nice to see the slight variations and styles. Also, sometimes it’s about the photo, too.
How do you make coffee art? What is used?
Typically, coffee art is created using foamed milk. You can read more about that here. Sometimes baristas will use other methods, like chocolate syrup, sprinkles, garnishes, etc. It can vary. We love it all!
Are iced coffees and other non-latte coffees welcome?
If the image shows interesting art in the coffee, then yes. If it’s just a typical cup of iced coffee (with no creative art created inside) then most likely not. We’ll take it on a case-by-case basis.
Do you drink your coffee art?
Of course! That’s why we photograph them — to preserve the pretty artwork before we devour them.
I love your website design! Who designed it, and can I get them to do some stuff for me? Or, is this a theme on Tumblr I can use?
Thanks! The design was by Meagan Fisher, one of our co-curators. You can contact her for design work, but do know that she stays pretty busy consistently, so her availability is very limited.
Please note that this is not a theme for use on Tumblr.
Have you considered releasing this design to the tumblr theme garden? Or selling it to admirers for a few bucks?
Thanks so much for appreciating our theme. We love it; Meagan did a fantastic job on it. We have not considered releasing our design. Perhaps someday in the future we could release the theme when and if we redesign our website… However, that is not something we have any plans to do at this time.
I’ve submitted photos recently and none were posted. Do you only post the best of the best?
Thanks for submitting images to Art in My Coffee. We apologize your images has not been published yet, but please know that they are likely in the queue.
It may take quite some time for images to be posted as there are typically hundreds of images in the queue, which have been waiting for quite a few months to be posted. Also, we only post about 2 images a day so we don’t clutter people’s feeds, which is why the queue sometimes gets pretty large.
Please continue submitting images. As long as they fit the topic (coffee art), and look decent, they’ll get posted. :-) Thanks!
How do you customize your Ask/About/Submit pages separately?
We use a body class to cascade our styles from. It’s a little wonky, but the only way we were able to generate classes were to put the actual post titles there which is not really a clean way (but was the only way we could find).
On the Tumblr Dashboard, how did you get your avatar to promote the author’s Tumblr with the mini-icon?
This is a Tumblr feature in your settings. Read more about it here.
